World Harmonica Festival goes online in 2021 November 5th & 6th, 2021
Greetings from the president of the FIH
Dear harmonica lovers,
I am very pleased to announce the 9th International World Harmonica Festival 2021.
At the beginning of November 2021 the time has come! After the great success of the World Harmonica Festival in 2017 and the festivals before it, the Fédération Internationale de l'Harmonica (FIH) in cooperation with the music and university town of Trossingen and the harmonica world market leader Hohner is planning the next World Harmonica Festival 2021 from 3rd - 7th November 2021.
Following a very dfifficult year for all of us in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic, we are now approaching 2021 in a spirit of confidence and optimism. We have set the dates of March 31 and June 30 2021 as preliminary and then final deadlines. On each of these dates, in consultation with all of our organisational partners and artists, we will review the situation in regards to the pandemic in order to assess whether or not it will be viable to proceed as planned with the World Harmonica Festival 2021. We will keep you informed of the latest developments on the festival homepage.
Assuming that the global pandemic situation normalizes in the course of the 2nd half of the year, visitors can look forward to fantastic evening concerts featuring the world’s finest harmonica artists, fascinating workshops, international competitions and the ever popular Late Night Sessions, as well as further highlights in the wide ranging supporting program.
The World Harmonica Festival is also in 2021 a meeting point for harmonica enthusiasts from all over the world. New friendships are made, old friends meet again.
Together we celebrate a festival of harmony and joy.
In the coming months we will be constantly updating our festival homepage to give you a complete overview of the many interesting festival activities.
Look forward together with me to a great, unique World Harmonica Festival 2021.
With best regards,
Gerhard Müller
President, FIH
For the
first evening of "United In Music", the online event for
fans and supporters of the World Harmonica Festival 2021, many of the artists
originally engaged to appear at the festival will be performing either live or
by means of concert videos specially recorded for the occasion.
We are delighted to be able to present an exciting program featuring a selection of the world’s finest chromonica artists and ensembles, from established masters such as Sigmund Groven from Norway or Yasuo Watani from Japan, from the innovative sounds of duo Aiden & Evelyn (Malaysia) and the Sirius Harmonica Ensemble (Taiwan) to emerging solo stars from the Far East like Gordon Lee (Hong Kong) or Long Deng Jie (China) to the full orchestral performances of the Hong Kong Harmonica Orchestra or Trossingen’s very own Orchester Hohnerklang. The program will also include live interviews with artists immediately prior to their performances. Afterwards, many of them will be available to interact with online visitors in a dedicated Breakout Room, and a virtual bar in a separate Breakout Room will offer festival visitors the opportunity to chat amongst themselves outside the program schedule.
We look
forward to welcoming you in person!
