16 year old Chris Bauer, with his father Bob and  and friend bass player Hank Graham, made up the Harmonikings after Gene retired as chromatic player in 1975, due to a battle with TB. Chris went on to be the lead player of the Harmonikings through the 1990s.

The Harmonicaires

The Harmonicaires - Modelled on the world-renowed Harmonicats, The Harmonicaires started up in Adelaide in South Australia in 1 September 1961, and comprised of New Zealand born brother's Murray (bass harmonica) and Byron Knipe (polyphonia harmonica) , and Dutchman Kim Van Dokkum (lead harmonica). None of them could read music but after honing their skills, picked up work around Adelaide, performing in cabaret, hotel, and concert venues, and finally television. The Harmonicaires recorded their only single in 1964, and despite it not selling well, were able to remain popular as a live act.
