Susan Sauter
Susan Sauter - Germany
Susan Sauter, age 22,
started to play the harmonica at the age of eight and at the age of fifteen became
Harmonica Town Master for the city of Trossingen. Trossingen is Beaverton's
Sister City and home of world renowned Hohner Harmonica Factory. From 2005 to
2008 Susan played in the harmonica group called The Harmonix which won first
place and became World Champions at the World Harmonica Festival in 2005. In
2007 Susan took part in the “World Music Festival” Innsbruck in the category
for Chromatic Harmonica Solo Adults and she won first place. Susan has been a
member of the Hohnerklang Trossingen Orchestra and from 2006 to 2008 she
studied accompanying chromatic harmonica at the Hohner Conservatorium
Trossingen finishing with top marks. At the World Harmonica Festival in 2009 in
Trossingen, Susan won first prize and is now the World Champion. After receiving her
high-school diploma, Susan embarked on a 2 1/2 year educational program to
become an administrative field employee for the City of Trossingen. She now
works for the mayor at Trossingen's city hall. ISing Community Choir, at the
request of Mayor Doyle, became ambassadors to Beaverton's Sister City last June
and the choir met Susan while on their tour to Germany. She graciously accepted
their request to play and the choir was stunned at what could be done on a
harmonica. Susan was featured at Music
Sunday at Bethel Congregational on Sunday, August 7th and by popular demand was
asked to return from Germany for a repeat performance. The public is welcome to
this extraordinary event.
